The Great British Insulation Scheme (formerly known as ECO+) began in late March 2023. In its first year, over 11,600 installations of insulating measures were carried out in 9,400 houses. And aims at energy efficiency improvement for homes that do not meet ECO4 eligibility. With a £1 billion cash-grant allocation, the project’s target is the assistance of 300,000 families in the UK in the alleviation of fuel poverty and the targeting of carbon emissions. Unlike ECO4’s ‘whole-house approach,’ GBIS usually provides one type of insulation per home, mainly loft or cavity wall insulation, which can save families up to £300 a year.
